Where is Kagoshima,
and why go?
Kagoshima forms southern Kyushu and includes an island chain extending farther south. Kagoshima City faces Sakurajima, while Kirishima, Ibusuki and Yakushima require separate legs.

Airport buses run to Kagoshima-Chuo. Ferries serve Sakurajima; Yakushima requires a flight or high-speed ferry.
