QUICK ORIENTATION
Kanagawa lies immediately south of Tokyo. Yokohama faces Tokyo Bay, Kamakura is on the coast and Hakone sits in the mountainous west near Shizuoka.

BASE & ROUTE COMPARISON
Kanagawa is not one compact sightseeing area. A waterfront evening, a temple walk and a mountain onsen stay ask for different shoes, luggage plans and overnight bases. A single extra day from Tokyo is a reason to choose one, not race through all three.
It provides an urban contrast rather than a countryside break. Pick an indoor anchor if the weather is poor; do not fill the same day with Hakone transfers.
The rewarding part is time on foot. Choose a compact cluster and check the individual temple closing times before adding Enoshima; the coast is an option, not an obligation.
Odawara is a gateway, not the end of the transfer. Protect the ryokan’s check-in and dinner time. A Fuji view is weather-dependent, so the stay should still appeal without one.

Keikyu trains connect Haneda with Yokohama. Reach Kamakura by JR Yokosuka Line and Hakone via Odawara.

BEFORE YOU BOOK
Start with the transport constraint, then keep the part of Kanagawa that fits it. The stay length above is an editorial allowance, not a minimum needed to enjoy the region.
Keep Yokohama and Kamakura as city days, then overnight in Hakone instead of squeezing it in.
JR and private rail are strong; Hakone uses a loop of trains, buses, ropeway and boat.
Hakone ryokan, Romancecar seats and seasonal Kamakura visits.
Yokohama museums, cup-noodle experiences and covered arcades.
