the city starts.

Complete immigration, collect baggage and clear customs before committing to a departure time.

Confirm Terminal 2 or 3, then follow the rail or bus pictograms rather than walking toward another terminal.

Choose the route by hotel district, not simply by the word “Tokyo”; the city is large and the last transfer matters.
- 04
Buy or top up an IC card only after confirming whether your phone and payment card support the mobile version.
Protect the first night
Check the final train and bus after estimating immigration time. If the connection is tight, use a taxi or stay at an airport-area hotel instead of building the first night around an uncertain last service.
Do not book it too tight
For Kyoto, Osaka or Nagoya, Keikyu to Shinagawa gives the cleanest Shinkansen connection. Leave a generous buffer and avoid a non-changeable same-evening train after an international flight.
Reduce the handling
Both rail routes can be busy at commuter hours. A direct airport bus or same/next-day baggage delivery may be more comfortable with large cases.
