Times below are approximate ride times or practical ranges. Queues, terminal movement and the journey from the city station to your hotel are additional.

Yui Rail

Kencho-mae / Makishi / Shuriabout 13 / 16 / 27 min

Kokusai-dori, central Naha and Shuri without road delays

Space is limited at busy times. Check the closest station and walking conditions for the hotel.

Airport / resort bus

Naha, Chatan, Onna and northern resortsabout 20–180 min

A direct resort stop without driving

Some services require or strongly benefit from advance booking. Frequency, hotel stops and seasons vary.

Taxi

Central Nahaabout 10–25 min

Groups, large luggage or a hotel away from the monorail

Congestion around Naha can lengthen the journey, especially at commuter and holiday peaks.

Rental car

Central and northern Okinawavaries

Multi-stop coast and countryside itineraries

Rental depots generally require a shuttle. Add collection time, and avoid scheduling a distant attraction immediately after landing.

02 · AFTER LANDING

Four steps before
the city starts.

  1. 01

Check whether the first accommodation is in Naha or on the resort coast; the correct transport choice changes completely.

  2. 02

For a resort bus, reconfirm the operating calendar, reservation rule and exact hotel stop.

  3. 03

For car rental, photograph existing damage, set navigation before moving and allow for rush-hour congestion.

  4. 04

Keep ferry and domestic-island flights on a separate buffer; weather can change island connections.

03 · LATE ARRIVAL

Protect the first night

Central Naha remains reachable by taxi after rail hours, but long resort transfers may not. Use a Naha first night when the final bus or rental counter cannot be relied on.

04 · ONWARD CONNECTION

Do not book it too tight

Tomari Port serves several island routes, while other ferries and flights use different ports or terminals. Confirm the exact departure point rather than planning for “Naha port” generally.

05 · LARGE LUGGAGE

Reduce the handling

Monorail carriages can be tight. Resort buses and luggage delivery reduce handling, but confirm that the hotel accepts bags before sending them.
