Where is Akita,
and why go?
Akita is on the Sea of Japan side of northern Tohoku, west of Iwate. Akita City anchors the coast, while Kakunodate and the inland onsen areas sit to the east.

Take the airport limousine bus to Akita Station. Kakunodate is reached by Akita Shinkansen from Akita or Tokyo.
